“Once women find sisterhood, there is nothing stronger” – Zoe Kravitz

Photographing this incredible portrait session was one of the most fulfilling creative projects I’ve been a part of in a long time. Katy from Katy Marie Artistry came to me with a vision for a photo shoot featuring a diverse group of women and we wound up forming a group of nine incredible ladies who SLAYED in front of the camera. Our goal was to show off strength and the empowerment that happens when you’re being supported by sisters to be uniquely you. Many of these ladies had never met each other before but you would never know it, right!? It was important to us to make each woman feel comfortable and confident in their own skin.

I wanted to share this shoot on my blog because I’m proud of the images, but more importantly I’m proud of what was captured.

These women barely knew each other before we started shooting and throughout the entire afternoon I heard nothing but compliments, encouragement and celebration coming from the entire team. You can see the positive energy radiating on their faces in the photos. All thanks to the sisterhood that we formed during this shoot. We captured individual personalities, genuine smiles, epic amounts of confidence and strength, and images of REAL women. No photoshopping was done to any of these images except for small color and exposure tweaks. Women are gorgeous just the way they are and don’t need fancy makeup or photoshop work to smooth perceived flaws (because, spoiler alert, there are NONE) to look and feel their best. I am so proud of how everyone involved in this shoot supported and loved on each other and I hope to get the chance to work with each of these ladies again soon.

Thanks so much to Katy Marie Artistry for your vision and beauty services for the entire team!

Thank you to Ruby, Chelsea, Bella, Mikaela, Mandy, Sacha, Kai & Amy for participating in this shoot, being AWESOME, and forming a wonderful sisterhood!

I offer boudoir sessions in my studio regularly, and while some women book sessions to gift images to their significant other, many women that I work with book a session for THEMSELVES.

Self-love and feeling empowered are important and if you’d like a chance to have some fun at the studio, get some gorgeous photos taken and leave at the end of the day feeling stronger and braver then send me a message now and let’s chat. My studio space is private, with beautiful north facing windows to let in tons of natural light, I provide professional hair and makeup services that will cater to your styling preferences, and promise to make you feel comfortable and confident. Posing in front of a camera is tough – no matter if it’s for family photos or a private boudoir session – and I always make sure to create a positive environment. I guarantee that I will find something about you that is addicting and I work hard to bring that out as much as possible. It might be your unfiltered laughter, natural sass or the way you say things with your eyes.

If you’re thinking of a boudoir session for yourself or as a gift but have concerns or reservations I invite you to send me a message and let’s chat more about the process.

I have a couple galleries of portfolio work I can share with you for inspiration and am happy to answer any and all questions you have. I look forward to hearing from you! HUGS!

ready to tell your story?

Hi, I’m alex! A seattle wedding photographer who’s been documenting your stories since 2009.

I fell in love with photography almost 20 years ago in a darkroom class, and that love has never faded. What started as a darkroom class in college turned into photographing my first wedding solo in 2010,and I was hooked. The joy. The emotion. The vows. The details. The people.

I realized quickly that my fulfillment came from helping people see themselves in a beautiful, honest way. I move calmly. I guide confidently. I know how to capture all the angles and candid moments without you even noticing. My couples often say I have “photo superpowers” because of how much I capture while still keeping everything feeling easy and low-pressure.

Some photographers find wedding days chaotic.

I find them electric.
