Intimate Seattle Elopement at Kubota Japanese Gardens

Drag me!

It doesn’t get much prettier and intimate than reading private vows with your partner by one of the ponds at Seattle’s Kubota Gardens, a perfect park for elopements and micro weddings. For Erika and Alex, this park holds special meaning. Alex’s grandfather was one of the designers of this gorgeous park in South Seattle.

Alex & Erika had a delightful vision for their elopement including their closest family, a ceremony in a very meaningful location, and to top it off they exchanged vows during a performance of the Blue Angels during Seattle’s annual SeaFair celebration so we got some spectacular photo bombs from the Navy’s finest. What we initially thought may be a distraction turned into a pretty fun surprise to see on their wedding day.

The couple began their photos at the front gate of Seattle’s Kubota Gardens, and then we walked the pathways inside the park for some couples portraits by the ponds and manicured trees before sneaking away to one of the red Japanese-inspired bridges next to a pond for private vows. A ceremony for family followed by photos and toasts rounded out our time together – and then the group was off to a celebratory dinner.

Erika looked stunning in her silk dress and I can’t get enough of that huge smile that was on her face all day. Kubota Gardens was the perfect location for their intimate elopement in Seattle with beautiful color and meaningful family ties everywhere we looked!

ready to tell your story?

Hi, I’m alex! A seattle wedding photographer who’s been documenting your stories since 2009.

I fell in love with photography almost 20 years ago in a darkroom class, and that love has never faded. What started as a darkroom class in college turned into photographing my first wedding solo in 2010,and I was hooked. The joy. The emotion. The vows. The details. The people.

I realized quickly that my fulfillment came from helping people see themselves in a beautiful, honest way. I move calmly. I guide confidently. I know how to capture all the angles and candid moments without you even noticing. My couples often say I have “photo superpowers” because of how much I capture while still keeping everything feeling easy and low-pressure.

Some photographers find wedding days chaotic.

I find them electric.
