Retro-inspired Studio Boudoir Portraits with Joy in Downtown Seattle

Drag me!

Pinup vibes galore! This boudoir session with Joy was so much fun at my downtown Seattle studio. Joy brought some wardrobe options that had this adorable retro vibe, when paired with the vintage kitchenette in the studio created a sweet vignette together.

Can we talk about Joy’s hair and epic tattoos? I’m a sucker for photographing clients with tattoos – I love the stories and meaning behind each one and often ask the person in front of my camera which tattoo is their favorite so we can give it a little extra spotlight in photos. During this session Joy and I had a wonderful conversation about inclusivity and diversity in the photography industry, especially in regards to boudoir sessions that are shared publicly online. It’s so common to see photos (that are insanely beautiful) of slim women with hourglass figures. They’re stunning but don’t represent all bodies well when it’s only women with smaller bodies getting shared online. All bodies are good bodies and I love any chance to document women celebrating their bodies. Joy and I did just that and I can’t wait for my next boudoir session in the studio soon.

If you’re interested in scheduling your own body confidence session or want to learn more about the experience working together for this type of shoot just click the link to get in touch below the photos!

ready to tell your story?

Hi, I’m alex! A seattle wedding photographer who’s been documenting your stories since 2009.

I fell in love with photography almost 20 years ago in a darkroom class, and that love has never faded. What started as a darkroom class in college turned into photographing my first wedding solo in 2010,and I was hooked. The joy. The emotion. The vows. The details. The people.

I realized quickly that my fulfillment came from helping people see themselves in a beautiful, honest way. I move calmly. I guide confidently. I know how to capture all the angles and candid moments without you even noticing. My couples often say I have “photo superpowers” because of how much I capture while still keeping everything feeling easy and low-pressure.

Some photographers find wedding days chaotic.

I find them electric.
