Mountain Adventure Engagement Portraits at Gold Creek Pond

Drag me!

More mornings like this one, please. Kandis & Kim reached out to me before their recent trip to Washington state asking for a gorgeous spot for outdoor engagement photos that would encompass the best of the best in the Pacific Northwest. Look no further than Gold Creek Pond at Snoqualmie Pass! Especially at sunrise, this breathtaking spot shows off gorgeous mountain reflections and mist sits on the surface of the water.

Working with Kandis and Kim for these portraits was such a treat. They traveled here for vacation and had never been to this location before, or heard of it before we started planning. They put so much trust in me to guide them and I loved spending this beautiful, but chilly, morning with them.

Heads up that Gold Creek Pond is scheduled to be closed for up to 10 years beginning in 2025, though I haven’t seen a closure date yet. Restoration work is going to be done in the area. If and when Gold Creek Pond reopens to the public, and while we utilize other recreational areas for photos in the mean time, I hope everyone remembers to “leave no trace”. Gold Creek Pond is popular due to those stunning vistas, but it gets mistreated regularly as a result. Non-biodegradable confetti, floral installations, trash and more routinely get left next to the pond’s edge. If you visit Gold Creek Pond or any of our other outdoor recreation areas country wide, please promise yourself to leave no trace and pack out everything with you.

ready to tell your story?

Hi, I’m alex! A seattle wedding photographer who’s been documenting your stories since 2009.

I fell in love with photography almost 20 years ago in a darkroom class, and that love has never faded. What started as a darkroom class in college turned into photographing my first wedding solo in 2010,and I was hooked. The joy. The emotion. The vows. The details. The people.

I realized quickly that my fulfillment came from helping people see themselves in a beautiful, honest way. I move calmly. I guide confidently. I know how to capture all the angles and candid moments without you even noticing. My couples often say I have “photo superpowers” because of how much I capture while still keeping everything feeling easy and low-pressure.

Some photographers find wedding days chaotic.

I find them electric.
