Pacific Northwest Fall Colors Editorial Shoot with Heidi the Friesian | Seattle Wedding Photographer

It is such a treat to bring creative ideas to life alongside your favorite industry colleagues. I have loved horses since I was very little, learning to ride around on my cousin’s pony, Pebbles, at just a few years old. One of my dreams later in life is to have some land and some horses - I wish I had the money and time now! But I digress… Once in a while I get an intense urge to put together a collaborative shoot that involves animals and this time I was determined to find a perfect horse for our shoot. Enter Heidi, a gorgeous Friesian horse (my favorite breed, to boot), owned by Heather Andreini and Black Horse Farm. Heidi was a perfect model, dealt with pouring rain on the day of our shoot like a pro, and bonded with Lizzy, our model, instantly. Lizzy has lots of experience with horses as well, and these two connected like old friends.

I wanted to feature saturated, woodsy, fall-like colors for this shoot and worked with some incredible vendor partners to make it happen. Smashing Petals killed it with those perfect fall tones that have so much contrast against the green forest trees. South Fork Cake Company created a gorgeous cake with hand painted detail around the side, and also made us super delicious cookies, and Pacific Brides helped out on hair and makeup. Despite POURING rain Lizzy’s makeup remained flawless and her hair held those loose waves! Shyn is a magician.

I hope you’ll scroll through to view all of our forest, fall-like fun. I’m itching for the chance to work with horses again, as always!

Thank you to my amazing vendor team for all your support and collaboration on this one!

This shoot features Heidi, the gorgeous and sweet Friesian. It was a great honor to meet Heidi multiple times, and sadly she passed away too young a while after we did this shoot. She was an incredible horse and I give so much thanks to Heather Andreini and Black Horse Farm for letting us feature her.
