Destination weddings have their own special brand of intimacy and love.
The extra work involved with planning pays off in the most rewarding way. Those that you hold closest to your heart make the trip without hesitation, and the nature of making a journey to celebrate your love and relationship makes the whole wedding feel that much more special.
Being asked to photograph Geoff & Scott's beautiful wedding inside the gates of Grand Teton National Park was overwhelming in such a good way.
Because I had other travel to do in Utah following their wedding I drove to Wyoming from Seattle, experiencing so many beautiful vistas throughout the western states. When I arrived in Jackson Hole I was given the opportunity to stay in a spectacular ski lodge that Geoff & Scott had booked through Airbnb. They got ready for the wedding in this beautiful space and used it as home base for their week long wedding celebration.
The drive to the gates of Grand Teton National Park is a short one from Jackson Hole, and Geoff & Scott were to be married in the Chapel of the Transfiguration, an old and small church that looks like a log cabin, built in 1925. As it turns out,
Geoff & Scott were also the first same gender couple to be married in the chapel.
They chose a date that would give us the chance to view snowy peaks in the distance, combined with the bright fall leaves in the aspen trees. There was color all around.
Geoff & Scott have an incredibly special and sweet love story that kept them connected throughout interstate moves, new jobs, moving back to Seattle, and more. I am so blessed to be able to call them friends and have witnessed such a perfect wedding ceremony. I am so happy that the editors of H&H Weddings thought that Geoff & Scott's wedding deserved some love on a little bit larger scale by featuring photos and their story on the H&H blog.
